It installs and the gui program opens but none of the settings actually apply. It says things like cannot read state of brightness, color, etc. I believe the control protocol is still the same between keyboards. That is weird, mine Cosmos Series: Only just over a year old. Mine has the RGB keyboard. Right now the keyboard defaults to blue and what seems like full brightness.
Yes but I get a bunch of failed errors on the gui windows that come up. They say things like cannot set or read various things like brightess, color etc. The modprobe command that I mentioned above seems to be saying something about it not being able to find the module. Do I need to change the permissions on the txt file after? I was following the compile instructions and the described errors above are what happen when I try to run it.

Hello MSI clan, first post here, I'm new to MSI productsI am a MSI newbie, can someone relate to me the led keyboard feature, I just purchased this laptop MSI GT72VR 6RD Dominatorgreat laptop so far a few minor glitches here and there, windows 10 : I would rather see 7, anyhow I have noticed a few issues with sometimes programs not loading into task bar next to the clock as well as the LED keyboard does not seem to hold the previously set light settings, I have it setup to low intensity aqua and when I reboot the laptop some times the keyboards switches back to that multicolor rainbow setting, it's great for Christmas lol looks like Christmas lights, but I want that aqua to remain as my primary setting, also is there a way to turn the lights off with a keyI know you can change it with the left bottom key but I can not turn it off.
One last question is has anyone loaded windows 7 on this lap top instead of windows 10? Sorry if those questions had been asked previously, I am still trying to figure this forum out. What mode is [low intensity aqua]? Could you show a picture or a short video for it? Let forum guys to help you to check the system configuration and software environment. When I said aqua I meant I custom selected the keyboard colorhowever after reboot that setting was being dropped and it was back to rainbow light default It's all good now.

I found some Python stuff on Github and a couple of Youtube videos showing off that it is doable, but next to nothing in the way of useful directions for a newbie like myself to follow to make any of it work.
At this point I just want to be able to turn the keyboard backlight on and off. It's currently always on colour is blueand while that's useful most of the time it's kind of annoying when I'm watching films and stuff in a dark room and I find myself putting a black shirt over the keyboard to block it out.
Maybe changing to any other colour than blue would be cool too, but I won't get my hopes up. Here's what you need to do if you have the same or similar laptop but are struggling to get it working. Hopefully this works for you too. Code: Select all sudo dmidecode. Code: Select all make. Code: Select all sudo insmod clevo-xsm-wmi.
Code: Select all blue blue blue. Code: Select all white green red blue yellow magenta cyan. Code: Select all sudo install -m clevo-xsm-wmi. Code: Select all sudo depmod. Code: Select all sudo update-initramfs -uk all. Thank you! I've bought a BTO laptop that displays nice rainbow colors at the start but after Linux boots, it was just plain blue.
